(Transcriber's Note: Based on information in the wills of Thomas Mann and Joseph Mann, the administrator of this estate had a sister and a daughter named Dorothy. This is most likely the sister, but there is a Tyrrell County marriage bond for the marriage of Dorrity Mann to Samuel Midyett dated 6 Nov 1778 with Thomas Midyett and John Midyett security.)


Administrator's Bond dated 28 April 1791

Thomas Mann appointed administrator of the estate of Dorothy Barnes with John Foster and John Snell security. Bond in amout of fifty pounds.

Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


April Session 1791

Ordered that Thomas Mann have leave to administer on the estate of Dorithy Barnes deceased and give bond 50 pounds John Foster and John Snell securities - & took the oath agreeable to law.

Also the said Thomas Mann administrator returns into court on oath an inventory of the estate of Dorithy Barnes deceased ordered filed.

Ordered that Thomas Mann administrator have leave to sell the estate of the said Dorithy Barnes and make return to next court.

July Session 1791

Mitchell McLaughlin exhibits into court on oath an account of sales of the estate of Dorothy Barnes deceased to amount 22 pounds, 11 shillings & 11 pence ordered filed.

January Session 1793

Ordered that William Cowell, Phillip Hunnings, Thomas Owens, Adam Owens & Joseph Carroon be appointed to divide the estate of Dorothy Barnes deceased among the representatives of the said deceased & make return to next court.
