In the name of God Amen. This 13th day of February, One Thousand Eight Hundred and Eighteen, I, Sally Alexander of the state of North Carolina and county of Tyrrell, being very weak and sick but of perfect mind and memory, do make and ordain this to be my last will & testament in the manner and form folowing, viz.

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Nancy Hopkins one shilling _ _ _ _ _

Item. I give and bequeath to my daughter Levicy (?) Alexander one shilling _ _ _ _ _

Item. I give and bequeath to my well beloved son Abraham Alexander my negro woman Betsy and her increase to him and his heirs forever and should he die before he arrives to the age of twenty one years for said negro woman and increase to be equally divided between my five sons viz. Charles Michel Thomas Hardy & Robert Alexander.

Item. When my son Hardy Alexander arrives at the age of twenty one years it is my will for my negro girl Late and her increase to be equally divided between my five sons viz. Charles Michel Thomas Hardy & Robert and for the said negro girl Late to be hired yearly at public auction untill the expiration of said time.

Item. One hundred dollars of the notes which I hold I give to my son Robert Alexander to be kept on interest untill he arrives to the age of twenty one years.

Item. All the remainder of the notes which I hold I give and bequeath to my six sons, Charles Hardy Thomas Michel Robert and Abraham.

Item. I give to my well beloved son Charles Alexander one bed and furniture one large table one knew looking glass to him and his heirs forever.

Item. All my horses, cattle, sheep and hogs and bees all my household and kitchen furniture that is not above mentioned and all my corn pork fat etc. to be sold on a creit of six months and the money to be equally divided between my six sons viz. Charles Michel Thomas Hardy Robert & Abraham Alexander and should any of my above six sons die before the came of age or have heirs lawfully begotten of their own body for all their part of my estate to be equally divided between all my children Nancy Hopkins & Levicy (?) Alexander excepted.

I likewise constitute and appoint Samuel Spruill Esquire and my son Charles Alexander my whole and sole executors of this my last will and testament, and do utterly revoke and discontinue all other wills or bequeaths and do ratify and confirm this to be my last will and testament. In witness where of I have hereunto set my hand and seal the day and date above written.

April Session 1818

The last will & testament of Sarah Alexander widdow of Abraham was exhibited in open court & proved by the oath of Robert Pledger Esqr. filed.

Charles Alexander quallified as executor to the last will & testament of Sarah Alexander deceased in due form of law.

July Session 1818

Ordered that Thos. Leigh, Silby Patrick, Robt. J. Pledger, Henry Alexander & William Combs or any three of them be appointed to settle the estate of Sarah Alexander widow of Abram deceased, guardian to the heirs of Abraham Alexander deceased with Chas. Alexander executor of said Sarah Alexander.

The inventory & account of sales of Sarah Alexander deceased was returned to court by Charles Alexander the executor of said deceased & filed.

April Session 1820

Thomas Hopkins returned in open court the account of sales & division of negro Writ ? the property of Sarah Alexander deceased & filed.

Petition January term 1820 by Charles Alexander executor of the estate of Sarah Alexander for division among the heirs of negro girl Write. Heirs at law are Nancy Hopkins and husband Thomas Hopkins, Chas. Alexander, Lourana Alexander, Michael Alexander, Thomas Alexander, Hardy Alexander, Robert Alexander & Abraham Alexander.

Division of the sale of negro girl Write belonging to the estate of Sarah Alexander on 5 Feb 1820. Sold for $200 resulting in $25 each to Ann Hopkins, Charles Alexander, Lewcy Alexander, Michael Alexander, Thomas Alexander, Hardy Alexander, Robert Alexander & Abraham Alexander.
