April Session 1803

Ordered that Moses E. Cator Elijah Warrington Esqrs. John Tarkenton Junr. Soloman Hassell Junr. John Hassell and Samuel Jackson surveyor divide the lands of Benjamin Alexander deceased among the representatives and make return to next court.

John Tarkenton Capt. was appointed guardian to Lovic Alexander John Alexander & Zebulon Alexander orphans of Benjn. Alexander deceased and hath entered into bond in the sum of three hundred pounds Richd. Davis & Mr. Isaac Patrick securities.

Ordered that the above orphans be bound to John Tarkenton Capt. to learn the art of blacksmith and be learnt to read write and cypher as far as the rule of three.

July Session 1804

Ordered that William Clough surveyor Moses E. Cator John Hassell Russell Armstrong Bennett Armstrong and Levi Bateman be appointed commissioners to divide the lands of Benjamin Alexander deceased and make return to next court.

October Session 1804

Ordered that Russell Armstrong Bennet Armstrong John Hassell Benjamin Spruill Esqr. Nathan Ansley with the County Surveyor go on the lands of Benjamin Alexander deceased and make partition among the representatives agreeable to petition filed for that purpose.

January Session 1805

Ordered that John Bateman Capt. Benjamin Spruill Esqr. Joseph Bateman & Russell Armstrong or a majority of them be appointed to divide the lands of Benjamin Alexander deceased and the County Surveyor to run out the said lands and make returns to next court.

July Session 1805

Joseph Ansley Surveyor returned in court the plat and division of land between Henry Bateman and Roseanah Spruill ordered registered - also the platt and division of the land among the heirs of Benjamin Alexander ordered registered.

Guardian bond dated 25 Apr 1803 in the amount of two hundred pounds appointing John Tarkenton guardian of Lovick Alexander orphan of Benjn. Alexander deceased Richard Davis & Mr. Isaac Patrick securities.

Undated guardian bond in the amount of two hundred pounds appointing John Tarkenton guardian of John Alexander orphan of Benjn. Alexander deceased Richard Davis & Mr. Isaac Patrick securities.

Execution dated 26 Oct 1803 and issued 1 Nov 1803 for debt, damages and cost recovered by Benjamin Alexander's administrator Jno. Patrick against Gideon Cohoon & William Alcock.

Petition July Term 1804 of Amon & Isaiah Alexander sons of Benjamin Alexander who died leaving your petitioners and Lovick John Zebulon Lydia & Nancy his children. Requests division of the tracts of land which Benjamin Alexander was seized and possessed of at his death, one tract called Poplar Island binding on the land of John Tarkinton, one tract called Grass Ridge on the Newland on the east side of Scuppernong River, one tract joining Joseph Vollivay Senr. on the Newland, one tract on the Newland adjoining Gideon Cohoon, one tract on Burtenshalls Island, one tract John Hassell, one tract of juniper swamp adjoining the Newland and one tract of juniper swamp in the Gum Branch patent.

Execution dated 24 Jul 1805 and issued 1 Aug 1805 for debt, damages and cost recovered by Benjamin Alexander's administrator Jno. Patrick against William Alexander & Capt. John Tarkenton.

Execution dated 24 Jul 1805 against John Patrick Junr. & Isaiah Alexander two of the heirs of Benjamin Alexander for court costs.

Petition of Lovick Alexander John Alexander Isaiah Alexander Zebulon Alexander Silby Powers stating that Benjamin Alexander died and John Paddrick was appointed administrator and John Tarkenton guardian and received into his possession a large sum of five hundred dollars. John died leaving Joseph Tarkenton as his executor who failed to account for the five hundred dollars. Joseph has frequently been called upon to account for this but refuses to do so. {No date}

Summons dated 30 Jun 1823 for Joseph Tarkenton executor of John Tarkenton deceased to attend next court and answer the petition of Lovick Alexander et al.

This estate file contains many documents pertaining to recovery of debt from the debtors cited above.
