In the name of God amen: October the 30th day 1821 I John Alexander of Tyrrell County & State of No Carolina being in a low state of health but of perfect mind & memory & calling to mind the mortality of my body & knowing it is appointed for all men once to die do make and ordain this my last will & testament and first of all I recomend my soul into the hands of God that gave it nothing doubting that I shall receive the same again at the great day of the General Resurection by the mighty power of God and as touching such worldy goods as it hath pleased God to bless me with in this life I give demise & dispose of in the following manner and form.

Item - I give & bequeath to my beloved mother Silvia Alexander one negro girl Jude during her natural life and after her desease to Elizabeth Warrington her heirs & assigns forever. I also give & bequeath to the said Elizabeth Warrington one negro boy by the name of Jacob to her & her heirs & assigns forever, then at the desease of my dearly beloved mother I give & bequeath to my beloved brother Edmund Alexander all the land which my father left me in his last will & testament him his heirs & assigns forever. I also give & bequeath to my brother Edmund Alexander one yoke of oxen and cart.

Item - I give and bequeath to my beloved sister Pamelia Alexander one mare named Pall - all the remainder of my estate both real & personal I leave to be sold at six months credit then after all my honest debts are paid I leave the residue of my estate to be equally divided between my brother Edmund Alexander Pamelia Alexander and Elizabeth Warrington, I do make appoint set off and ordain Edmund Alexander my whole & sole executor in testimoney whereof I do hereunto set my hand & seal ---

This will was exhibited in open court & proved by the oath of Joseph Snell one of the subscribing witnesses thereto who also swore that he saw Mathew Brickhouse the other witness sign the same as concurrent evidence thereto & it was ordred to be recorded -

January Session 1822

The last will & testament of John Alexander was exhibited and proved in open court by the oath of Joseph Snell one of the subscribing witnesses thereto who also swore that he saw Mathew Brickhouse sign the same as concurrent evidence thereto Ordered that letters testamentary issue thereon with a coppy of the will annexed.

Edmund Alexander appeared in open court & quallified to the last will & testament of John Alexander deceased in due form of law.

April Session 1822

An inventory with the account sales annexed of the estate of John Alexander deceased was returned in open court on oath by Edmd. Alexander his executor amount account sales $115.44 cash and notes inventoried $6.88 one note for 4 thousand 22 inch shingles & filed.

See the will of Abner Alexander in 1818, whose wife was Silvia. The siblings listed in this will also match the children in the will of Abner Alexander.
