Tyrrell County Court of Pleas & Quarter Sessions


July Session 1791

Ordered that Sarah Allcock have leave of administration on the estate of William Allcock deceased and give bond in 600 pounds Jesse Hatfield & William Allcock securities.

Sarah Allcock administratrix of William Allcock deceased returns into court on oath an inventory of the estate of said deceased ordered filed.

Ordered that Sarah Allcock administratrix have leave to sell the perishable estate of said Wm. Allcock deceased and make return to next court.

October Session 1791

Ordered that Stephen Allcock be appointed guardian to Simion Allcock his brother and give bond 100 pounds William Babks & Thomas Meekings securities.

Appeared in court Shadrack Allcock and chose his brother Stephen Allcock for his guardian and give bond 100 pounds William Allcock and Stephen Swain Esqr. securities.

On motion the petition of William & Stephen Allcock two of the heirs & representatives of William Allcock deceased was read, & the court having appointed the said Stephen Allcock guardian to his two younger brothers Shadrack & Simeon, ordered that the petitioners petition for a division of the real estate of Wm. Allcock deceased be granted and the following men be appointed under the Act of Assembly to divide the same to wit, William Banks, Thomas Hoskins & Thomas Liverman or a majority of them together with the Surveyor of the County to attend them, ordered further that they make an accurate return of their proceedings to the next succeeding court agreeable to an Act of Assembly passed in the year of 1787.

Sarah Allcock administratrix of William Allcock deceased exhibits into court her account against the said deceased estate being examined by the court allowed to amount 2 pounds & 14 shillings & filed.

April Session 1792

Ordered that John Poole and Thomas Hoskins Esqrs. be appointed to audite & settle the accounts of Benjamin Baker & Sarah his wife of the estate of William Allcock Senr. & divide the property between the heirs of the said William Allcock deceased & make return to next court.

July Session 1792

John Snell late Deputy Sheriff by the hands of Col. John Warrington exhibits into court an account of sales of the estate of William Allcock deceased to amount of 295 pounds, 17 shillings & 7 pence & ordered filed.

Ordered that Shadrick Allcock orphan of William Allcock deceased be bound unto Jesse Hatfield until he arrive to the age of twenty one years and that he learn him the art & mistery of a black smith & to read write & cypher as far as the rule of three.

January Session 1793

Ordered that William Liverman Senr., John Liverman, Thomas Liverman, Thomas Hoskins Esqr. & William Banks with the County Surveyor be appointed to divide the lands of William Allcock deceased among the representatives of said deceased and make return to next court.

October Session 1793

The division of the lands of William Allcock deceased was returned open court by Thomas Hoskins William Liverman and William Banks appointed to divide the same.

July Session 1802

Ordered that Wiliam Alcock orphan of Wm. Alcock deceased be bound to Joseph Cohoon to learn the art of a cordwinder and be educated as the law directs.

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show the marriage of Benjamin Baker to Sarah Cook on 24 Jan 1792, with John Poole as security; Cook may be Sarah Allcock's maiden name.
