Transcribers Notes:

Tyrrell County marriage bonds show Martha Combs married to Jonathan Addams on 8 Feb 1783 with Joseph Everitt as security. This was evidently a second marriage for Martha, since court records show she had a daughter named Elizabeth Combs for whom she became guardian. The will of Thomas Combs, written in July 1780 and proved July Term 1781, lists a wife Martha. Court records of April Term 1783 show that Thomas Combs had a daughter named Elizabeth. Therefore it seems certain that her first husband was Thomas Combs but her maiden name has not been determined.
