Martha Hoxit's Widow's Pension Application

While John "Jack" Hoxit and his presumed sister Rebecca "Granny Beck" both died in Jackson County, NC, it is believed that they were born in present day Transylvania County, North Carolina as the children or grandchildren of Samuel or Walter Hogshead/Hogsed.  Rebecca is found in the Catheys Creek area in census records.

This pension application provides an important link in the continuing search for the parents of Jack and Rebecca in that it contains both the Hogsed and Hoxit spellings in the same document.
