MountainKin:

We are a dedicated group of family researchers and mountain lore historians. Our primary goal is to trace and record our ancestors who lived and died in the foothills and mountains of the Blue Ridge, Balsams and the Great Smokies. Many of these sturdy pioneer ancestors spent their entire lives in these mountains, while others removed to many other areas. In support of our primary goal we are dedicated to reuniting the descendents of these good mountain folks, through online group discussion and annual MountainKin reunions. We are also committed as a group to work together to protect and preserve the mountains which we love so dearly. We would like to extend an open invitation to anyone who has mountain heritage, a desire to know their ancestors, and a deep love for the mountains to apply for membership in MountainKin.

MountainBlessings Groups:

Membership sites created by Phyllis Cash, iretac@yahoo.com, for storage of documents such as birth and death certificates, pictures and other items that pertain to the settlement of Western North Carolina, Upper South Carolina, Eastern Tennessee or Northern GA. Out of courtesy to others please remember to give credit where it is due to other members' research. These sites are not for communicating with other researchers. Most of the "talking" is done on our sister site, MountainKin .

MountainBlessings
Over the passage of time we lose knowledge of the way our ancestors lived their lives and the tools they used to survive with, the homes that they lived in, the mountains where they lived and the food that they ate. MountainBlessings was created to help us hold on to the knowledge that we do have of our heritage. This site is intended to help record the way that our ancestors lived. We hope to fill this site full of photos of home places, flowers, old toys, food, tools of trade and tools from the home, all from the time that our ancestors lived and in honor of our ancestors who were those sturdy pioneers from the mountains and foothills of North Carolina. Some of those ancestors had descendants that soon moved to the foothills of South Carolina and into Georgia and Texas as well as other states.
