In the name of God Amen.

    I, Joshua Ward of All Saints in the State of South Carolina being of sound mind and memory but feeble in health do make, publish and declare the present writing as and for my last will and testament hereby revoking all other wills and testaments by me at any time heretofore made.

    I give and bequeath to my dear wife my plate and furniture the rest and residue of whatever property I may have I give and bequeath equally to be divided among my dear wife and children.

    I hereby nominate and appoint my friend the Rev. A. Toomer Porter the guardian of my son Samuel Mortimer Ward and I desire the said A. Toomer Porter to have the exclusive and entire ________ and charge of the execution and learning of my said son. In the event of the death of the said A. Toomer Porter I nominate and appoint Mrs. Magdalen Porter the wife of the said A. Toomer Porter with the like care and charge of my said son the guardian of my said son.

    I appoint my dear wife executrix of this my last will and testament.

    Witness my hand and seal at Charleston this 29th day of November in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-seven.

    Present Hon. Geo. Buist Probate Judge for the County of Charleston

    Personally appeared Hon. Wm Allston Pringle of Charleston City Judge and Subscribing witness to the annexed instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Joshua Ward let of Georgetown County Dec'd being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he was present and did see the said instrument of writing duly executed by the said Joshua Ward and deponent further saith that the said Joshua Ward at the time of executing the said instrument of writing to the best of deponent's knowledge and belief of sound mind and disposing memory and understanding and that he Wm Allston Pringle the deponent and Samuel H. Mortimer and Johanna D. Ward in the presence of each other and of the said Joshua Ward and at his request signed their names as witnesses to the due execution of the same.

    Sworn and subscribed to before me this 14th day of May in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

    Present Hon. Geo Buist Probate Judge for Charleston County personally appeared Samuel H. Mortimer of Charleston County- Farmer one of the subscribing witnesses to the annexed instrument of writing purporting to be the last will and testament of Joshua Ward late of Georgetown County Dec'd who being duly sworn deposeth and saith that he was present and did see the said instrument of writing duly executed by the said Joshua Ward and deponent further saith that the said Joshua Ward at the time of executing the said instrument of writing was to the best of deponent's knowledge and belief of sound and disposing mind and memory and understanding and the said Samuel H. Mortimer the deponent and Johanna D. Ward and Wm Allston Pringle in the presence of each other and of the said Joshua Ward and at his request signed their names as witnesses to the due execution of the same.

    Sworn and subscribed before me this 20th day of April in the year of Our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

I do hereby certify that the annexed instrument of writing is a true and correct copy of the last will and testament of Joshua Ward let of this county Dec'd which was duly proven and allowed according to the laws of South Carolina and of the Probate thereof and filed and recorded in the Court of Probate on the 19th day of April AD one thousand eight hundred and sixty-nine.

    I John L. Green Judge of the Third Judicial Court hereby certify that R. O. Bush whose signature is annexed to the foregoing certificate is a legal appointed and commissioned Judge of Probate for Georgetown County that the said county is the Third Judicial Circuit of said state of which I am the duly commissioned judge that the said certificate is under the official seal and in the handwriting of the said R. O. Bush and that the said probate of the will of the said Joshua Ward is in exact and full accordance and compliance with the laws of South Carolina and at full credit and authority is due to the said probate and the said certificate of the said R. O. Bush.
