This indenture made and entered into on the 12th day of May in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and sixty seven between Strawbridge Young of the County of Transylvania and State of North Carolina of the one part and A. F. English W. L. Case and S. R. Neill, Trustees of the Methodist Episcopal Church of the other part.  Witnesseth that for and in consideration of the sum of five dollars to him in hand paid the receipt whereof is hereby fully acknowledged he the said Young hath given granted bargained and convey and confirmed and by these presents doth give grant bargain and convey unto the said A. F. English, W. L. Case and S. R. Neil Trustees as aforesaid and their successors in office a certain tract of land land and being in the State of North Carolina in the County of Transylvania on the waters of Davidson River bounded as follows: viz: Beginning on a Beech on the South bank of Davidson River and runs South 22 deg East 11 poles to a chestnut then South 79 deg East _ poles to a Birch thence N. 71 deg. East 6 1/4 poles to a Black gum thence West with the river to the beginning.  To have and to hold together with all and singular the woods ways waters, privileges and apportioning to them the same a. F. English, W. L. Case and S. R. Neill Trustees of the aforesaid church and their successors in office in fee simple absolutely and forever free and discharged of all encumbrances whatsoever as long as it is kept for a church or school in trust for the use and benefit of the said religious society it is also to be free to all Orthodox Denominations said land is ____ in trust that said premises shall be used _______ land and dis___ of as a place of public worship of the said church in the United States of America subject to the discipline by the General Conference in which Lands the said premises are situated ___ hereby covenant with the said trustees and agree that I will forever warrant and defend the right and title to them the said trustees and their successors in office.  In witness whereof I do hereby set my hand and seal the day and date above written  Signed sealed and delivered in presence of G.
