Researching the Harris, Settle, Reid, Stubblefield, and
Allen families of Rockingham and Guilford Counties.
Especially interested in descendants of Thompson Harris who was
granted land in Rockingham Co. by Lord Granville in 1756. He
had 4 known sons, (1)Robert whose descendants moved to White Co.
IL, (2)John Sr who stayed in Rockingham Co. NC, (3)Thompson Jr
who possibly moved to SC where descendants spread out into GA
& AL, and (4)Christopher of which we have no futher information.
These families lived in the HOGANS CREEK, LICKFORD CREEK AREAS
of Rockingham Co. NC.
Another researcher has found inconclusive evidence that this
Harris branch is connected with Captain Robert Harris of VA as
Thompson Sr was doing land transactions in Surry Co. VA about
1756. The given names of Thompson and Claiborn run thoughout
descendants of these family lines.
