Will of Abraham BARNES, 1794

In the name of God Amen. I Abraham Barnes of the State of North Carolina and Robeson County being well of body and of perfect mind and memory do make and ordain this my last will and testiment in manner and form following vis

1st I give and bequeath and devise to my son Josiah Barnes all my land lying below the Rice Field Branch on both sides of the Old Field Swamp. Also one hundred acres lying on the Burnt Reed Branch joining Samuel Smiths land. Also fifty acres lying on both sides of the Old Road and near Joseph Rackleys lands.

2nd I give and bequeath and devise to my son Elias Barnes all my other land above said Rice Field Branch on both sides of Old Field Swamp and else where.

3rd And it is my will and desire that my Personal Estate of Negro stock of all kind and all the rest of my moveable property be equally divided between my four children that is to say Josiah Barnes, Elias Barnes, Asenath Willis and Mary Bridgers and I do appoint my sons Josiah Barnes and Elias Barnes to be my whole and sole executor of this my last will and testament.

In witness thereof I have hereunto set my hand and seal this twenty fourth day of January 1794.
