1838 MAP OF NORTH CAROLINA

Have you ever heard our Great Smoky Mountains called Iron Mountains? I hadn't, until I recently discovered this map in an old family cedar chest. It shows the names of the largest (or only) settlements in existence in 1838. Entered according to the Act of Congress in the year 1838 by T. G. Bradford in the Clerk's Office of the District Court of Massachusetts. This map was engraved by G. W. Boynton.

If you can't quite make out a name, email me, and I will take a look at the original map. If you would like to have a copy, click here.
