Died at Mountville, Troup County, Georgia on the 23rd ultimo, Mr. Joseph Johnson, aged 87, a native of 
Halifax County, Va., but a resident of Chatham County, N.C. from about 1773 to 1839. He served throughout 
the whole of the Revolutionary war, and was in some of its most important battles. He rose to the rank 
of 1st Lieutenant.
