Hamlet, July 1.-John McNeill, age 65, and his grandson, McDonald McNeill, age 12, were killed
today at noon at the Maple street crossing in Aberdeen [Moore county, NC] when the automobile in which they
were riding was struck by south-bound Seaboard Air Line passenger train No. 41. They were placed on the train
to be brought to the hospital here, but died en route.
The accident can not be accounted for except that the small boy who was driving the car failed to see the
train, and then seeing the danger, made an effort to get off the track with the result that the engine choked
on him.
Dr. McLeod rendered all possible medical aid, but both boddies were badly mutilated.
