North Carolina, Richmond County. I, John D. Shaw, of the aforesaid County & State, being of sound mind, but knowing the uncertainty 
of my earthly existence, do make and declare this my last will and testament.
	
My executrix, hereinafter named, shall give to my body a decent burial, suit-able to the wishes of my friends and relatives, and pay 
all funeral expenses, together with all my just debts out of the first moneys that may come into her hands belonging to my estate.
It is my wish that my daughter, Sallie Glen Fairley, have as her own property for and during her life and, at and after her death, 
that her children have as their own property in fee simple, that part and portion of the tract of land on which I now reside, in Wolf 
Pit Township, in the aforesaid County of Richmond, adjoining the land of C. C. Covington and Seaboard Air Line Railway, which is 
described in a deed made and executed by myself and wife *Margaret B. Shaw, now deceased, on 14th August, 1900, to said Sallie Glen Fairley, 
for and during her life, and after her death to her children, the execution of which deed is made for a description and disposition of said 
part and portion of said tract of land. And I do hereby give and devise said part and portion of said tract of land to my said daughter, 
Sallie Glen Fairley, for and during her life, and at and after her death, to her children in fee.

It is my wish that my daughter Easdale Shaw, have as her own property, in fee simple, that part and portion of the tract of land on which 
I now reside in Wolf Pit Township, Richmond County, adjoining the lands of C. C. Covington & Seaboard Air Line Railway, which part and 
portion of said tract of land is described in a deed made by myself and wife, Margaret B. Shaw, now deceased, to my said daughter Easdale 
Shaw on the 14th day of August, 1900, the execution of which deed was duly acknow-ledged before W. I. Everett, Clerk of the Superior Court 
of the aforesaid County of Richmond, on the 25th of August, 1900, and reference is made to said deed for a description and disposition of 
said part and portion of said tract of land, and on which is my dwelling house and out houses, and I do give and devise said part and portion 
of said tract of land, with my dwelling house and all other houses and appurtenances thereon, to my said daughter Easdale Shaw and her heirs 
in fee.

I give & devise to my daughter Sallie Glen Fairley, for and during her life, the lot of land in the Town of Rockingham, in the aforesaid 
County of Richmond which I bought from H. C. Dockery & wife, fronting on Washington Street, on which there is a two-story brick store, now 
rented and occupied by A. A. Williams, and at and after her death, I give and devise said lot of land, with said store thereon to her 
children, to be equally divided between them, share and share alike, in fee simple.

I give and devise to my daughter Easdale Shaw, and her heirs, in fee simple, the lot of land in the Town of Rockingham, that I bought from 
W.D. McRae, fronting on Washington Street and the Public Square in said Town, on which there is a two-story brick building at present 
rented and occupied by Terry-Dickinson Co. to be her own property, with all buildings and appurtenances thereon.
	
I give and devise to my daughter, Easdale Shaw, and her heirs, in fee, that lot of land in the City of Charlotte, in the State aforesaid, 
with the building thereon, and appurtenances thereto belonging, that I bought from R. B. Alexander & wife, the deed for which is registered 
in Book 248, Page 398 of the Register of Deeds Office of the County of Mecklenburg, reference to which is here made for description of said 
lot & appurtenances, to be hers absolutely in fee.

I give and devise to my son Alexander Clifton Shaw, the northern half of the lot of land in the City of High Point, in the County of Guilford, 
in the aforesaid State, with the store and building on said northern half of said lot, which said lot I bought from R. L. Lambeth & wife and 
John Marsh, and the deed for which to me is registered in the Office of Register of Deeds in the aforesaid County of Guilford, and reference 
to which is made for a full description of same, and if my said son Alexander Clifton Shaw die, leaving no children surviving him, then at 
and after his death, I give the northern half of said lot of land, with the stores and buildings on said northern half of said lot, to the 
children of Sallie Glen Fairley, in fee, share and share alike.

I give to my grandson John D. Shaw, Jr., and his heirs, in fee simple, the southern half of said lot of land, with the store and buildings 
thereon, and being the southern half of the lot described in the above item of this my will and testament, and which I bought from R.L. Lambeth 
and wife and John Marsh.

I give and devise to my daughter Easdale Shaw to be her property absolutely, all my household and kitchen furniture, of every kind and 
description, all my horses, mules, carriages, buggies, wagons, farming utensils, all my books, except law books, typewriter and office 
furniture, tableware of every kind, clocks and piano, my wish being that my daughter, Easdale Shaw, may keep my home as it is at present, 
to have and to hold said property absolutely.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Sallie Glen Fairley, in trust for my grand children, Nancy Fairley, Elsie Fairley and Henry Fairley, Jr., 
one hundred shares of stock I own in the Waverly Cotton Mills Company, Laurinburg, N.C., to be equally divided between them, share and share 
alike.

I give and bequeath to my daughter Easdale Shaw to her and her assigns, the following share of stock, viz: Thirty shares of stock I own in 
the Murchison National Bank, Wilmington, N.C.; thirty five shares of stock I own in the American Trust Co., Charlotte, N.C.; twenty shares 
of stock I own in the Charlotte Trust & Realty Co., Charlotte, N.C.; five share of stock I own in the Charlotte National Bank, Charlotte, N.C.; 
ten shares of stock I own in the Union National Bank, Charlotte, N.C.; sixty shares of stock I own in the Hannah Pickett Mills, Rockingham, 
N.C., and the share of stock I own in the News & Observer Co. of Raleigh, N.C., the par value of which stock is one hundred dollars, all of 
which is to be her property absolutely.

I give & bequeath to my grand daughter Nancy Fairley, twenty shares of stock I own in the Commercial National Bank, Charlotte to be her 
property absolutely.

I give & bequeath to my son, Alexander Clifton Shaw, twenty shares of stock I own in the American National Bank, Wilmington, N.C., and, if 
he dies without leaving child or children, then, at his death, I give and bequeath said twenty shares of stock in the American National Bank, 
Wilmington, N.C. to my daughters, Sallie Glen Fairley and Easdale Shaw, to be equally divided between them, share and share alike.

I give and bequeath to my two grandsons, John D. Shaw, Jr. & Henry Fairley, Jr., twelve shares of stock I own in the Woodlawn Cotton Mills, 
Mount Holly, Gaston Co., N.C., to be equally divided between them, share and share alike.

I give and bequeath to my grandson, Henry Fairley, Jr., my gold watch, that formerly belonged to my son, Angus R. Shaw, now deceased.

It is my will and I direct that my executrix, hereinafter named, after taking out all the devises and legacies heretofore named and given 
in this last will and testament, shall collect all debts, notes, mortgages and accounts due me and sell for cash all the residue of my estate, 
after taking out all the devises and legacies, as before stated, and after the payment of my debts and funeral expenses, divide and pay out 
the surplus as follows: To each one of my grandchildren, Nancy Fairley, Glen Fairley, Katherine Fairley, Dorathy Fairley, Jenette Fairley, 
Elsie Fairley, Henry Fairley, Jr. and John D. Shaw, Jr., the sum of five hundred dollars to each one, and then divide the balance between 
herself, my daughter Sallie Glen Fairly, my son Alexander Clifton Shaw and my daughter-in-law Belle T. Shaw, equally, one fourth to each one.

I will and direct that, if any legatee or devisee beneficiary under this my will and testament, shall refuse to abide by the disposition of 
property herein, or attempt to set aside and make void any disposition of property, legacy or devise herein contain-ed, then, in that event, 
such legatee or devisee shall forfeit and make void any and all devises and legacies herein given to him or her.

I hereby appoint my daughter, Miss Easdale Shaw, my lawful executrix, to all intents and purposes, to execute this, my last will and testament, 
according to the true intent and meaning of the same, and every part and clause thereof, hereby revoking and declaring utterly void all other 
wills and testaments by me heretofore made.

It is my wish and I advise that my executrix, Easdale Shaw, consult with my son Alexander Clifton Shaw, as much as she can practically for 
advice in regard to the proper manner for carrying out the provisions of this last will and testament, and when not practical to consult with 
said son, that she consult with my friend, Edward H. Gibson of Laurinburg, N.C. for advice in the management of the trust herein reposed in 
her. In testimony whereof, I, the said John D. Shaw, do hereunto set my hand & seal this 2nd day of October 1910. John D. Shaw. Signed, sealed
