Dear Myrtle:
Before I get too old to pass this along, I would like this information to be shared. In 2008 I was contacted by a generous
and kind lady named Joan Schaller Yeckel. She working at the St Louis Book Fair and come upon a book with inscriptions regarding
family births and history. She tried to find the family connections on line and found some of my posts and contacted me. In
that book was the name of Charles Medlock born in 1781. She digitized the pages of the book and we worked together to try and buy
it, but someone else won the auction bid. I have the digitized pages. I would like to know if you could post this information to
the site and if so I will send the information separately in another email. I will always be grateful to Joan for her help and
caring about genealogy.

Some of the information was as follows:
The Book was entitled Sermons Volume II by James Foster; second edition, published 1744/1745... (very old and some pages torn
and worn). All notations are hand written...

Written on the side of page 1 - "Nanny Cole her book 1782~"

Page 180 of the book on the opposite side was written

"Stephen Cole was born May 18 1760"
"Nancy Cole was born May 22 1762"
"Stephen Cole & Nancy his wife was Married April 18 1782"
(... and much more Cole genealogy)

Page 289 Serm. III - Written on the side of the Margin - Large well rounded neat writing "Moved to the Rode November 1797"

There were at least 5 pages of entries, which I will send later, all concerning the Cole family. The writing varies by date
and even in later pages which will be explained when I send you the transcription. It was such a marvelous find that I do
want to share to give hope to others who are not finding anything anymore. Since this was six years ago, I am a bit late
in sharing, myself. ...

(10-30-2014) The Charles Medlock, Jr. mentioned in this is the son of Israel Medlock who died at Beatties bridge while Stephen
Cole was in command. I have never been able to find the name of his wife...which is very puzzling. Israel was the son of Col
Charles Medlock of Anson/Richmond Co NC, who was originally from Louisa/Hanover counties of Virginia. Col. Charles had several
children: Israel, George, Keziah who married Silas Hailey, Ann who married William Jordan and Henry who married Karen Sanford.
I have submitted Col. Charles to DAR as a patriot and waiting to hear the results. That is the brief story. ...

(11-8-2014) The result of all of this connected my family along with multiple other documents that covered many states--from
Virginia to North Carolina to South Carolina to Georgia and back to Virginia as the family multiplied. It included lots of time
on a micro-film reader, and in court houses, libraries, archives and cemeteries and even a Salt Lake City jaunt.
Thank you, Mary Jean Medlock Zimmerman
