1840? State of N. C. Pursuant to an order issued from the Board of Superintendents of Richmond County Schools to us directed, Duncan C. Wright, John R. Gibson and William Graham, Committee for District No.16, to take the number and names of the white children in the bounds of said District — We find the number of white children to be 107. I believe that John, Harriett, John, Nancy and Mary Loyd are children of John Loyd a nd Ann Viner/Leviner listed in the 1840 Richmond County Census. You can find this family in the 1850 Dale County Alabama census, John Loyd, age 45, Harriet, 20, Mary 17, John 15, Maranda 13, William 11, Abner 9, Henry 8, Ann 4, all born in North Carolina. There seems to be no wife in this census. The Ancestry.com site has him listed in the index as John Loya. The John Loyd, age 15, is my great great grandfather who migrated to Waller County Texas in about 1873. They can be found on the 1880 Waller County Census. John Loyd, age 45 listed above is buried in Fort Rucker Cemetery, Dale County, Alabama with his second wife. William, age 11, migrated to Florida. Shared March 16, 2009 by June Moffett
