DEATH NOTICES FOR 2-12-05         

Ramseur-Charles Alton Slack departed this life on February 12 at his home; at the age of 85. Mr. Slack lived in the Columbia township. Six Children and ten grandkids survive. Services for Mr. Slack, which will be held in Tennessee,are intrusted to Loflin Funeral Home.

ASHEBORO - Rexie Delbert "R.D." Cole Jr., 61, of Asheboro, departed this life on Feb. 12.at his residence. Burial rites will be on the 17th at Randolph Memorial Park. His wife ,JoAnn Cagle Cole, passed before him.

Surviving: daughters, Cynthia Cole Cassidy of Farmer, Rexie Angela Cobler of Axton, Va.; son, Timothy Brower of Asheboro and two other sons; sisters, Faye Luther and Hilda Graham, both of Asheboro; brother, Howard Amick of Asheboro; eight grandchildren; one great-grandchild. SOPHIA - Wesley Junior Johnson, 5376 Branson David Rd, departed this life on Feb. 13 at his residence; at the age of 77. Mr. Johnson lived in the New Market township. Born June 10, 1927, in Davie County, s/o Wesley and Mittie Coe Johnson, a retired employee of Kay-Lyn Furniture Co. Mr. Johnson was also a WWII Veteran. He married Reta Johnson, Oct. 25, 1952. She survives. Also left to cherish his memory is his mother, of Mocksville; sons, Keith Johnson, of Sophia and Brian Johnson and his wife, Lara, of Archdale; sisters, Elsie Hartley, of Sevierville, Tenn., Odessa Taylor, of Mocksville and Beulah Honeycutt ,of Landis; brothers, the Rev. Jack Johnson, Landon Johnson and Charlie Johnson, of Mocksville; two grandsons, Peyton and Cameron Johnson. Burial will be held at Floral Garden on 2/15; Rev. Jack Johnson officiating. Services are intrusted to Sechrest Funeral Home in Archdale.


TRINITY- Mrs. Willie Lane Siler departed this life, Feb. 13 at age 71, following a brief illness at Westchester Manor Nursing Center in High Point . Mrs. Siler lived in the Trinity township. Born July 19, 1933, in High Point, one of nine children born; the d/o of Willie and Frances Jones Lane. She was preceded in death by her father, three brothers; William, Robert, and Rupert Lane; and two sisters, Helen Lane, and Marva Davis. Surviving are her husband, Thomas Siler; one daughter, Joretta Cunningham and her husband Cornell, of High Point; two grandchildren, Adell Harris of Asheville, and Jamel Harris and his wife Kelly of Youngstown; her mother, Mrs. Frances Lane of High Point; two brothers, Bobby Lane and Willie Paul Lane of High Point; one sister, Betty Foster of High Point. Funeral rites on Feb. 17 at Calvary Baptist Church; Rev. Tobias LaGrone. Burial will follow in Thomasville City Cemetery. Haizlip Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.


ASHEBORO TOWNSHIP-- Mattie Ruth Ledwell Brower, 52, , w/o Tracy Brower, departed this life on the 13th at Randolph Hospital. Funeral rites will be held on the 18th at Stout's Chapel United Methodist Church; Rev. Tracey Bobbett officiating. TRINITY -- David Gray Taylor Jr., 40 departed this life on the 13th at High Point Hospital. David Taylor was born on July 10th, 1964. He lived in the Trinity Township. He was a upholster and truck driver. He lives sons, David Grant Taylor and Joshua Keith Taylor, both of Randleman; mother, Jo Ann Pickard Leonard of Sophia; father, David Gray Taylor Sr. of Sophia; sister, Karen Eddins of Silver Valley; brother, Stephen Taylor of Trinity;several cousins. Funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, the 16th. ; chapel of Cumby Family Funeral Service in Archdale. Burial rites will take place at Marlboro Friends Meeting Cemetery.

RAMSEUR - Theodore Wilbert Patterson, 81, departed this life on Feb. 14 in Durham. Mr. Patterson lived in the Columbia township. Burial: Parks Cross Roads Christian Church Cemetery, with military honors by the Randolph County Honor Guard. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. RAMSEUR -- Lakie Lester Allen, 86, of Columbia township, departed this life on Monday, Feb. 14.

DENTON - Terry Eugene Shankle, 58, of Denton, departed this life on Feb. 16, at his home. A Memorial service will on Feb. 20 at Pugh Funeral Home Chapel, Asheboro; Chaplain Dwight Ayers, Wayne Bescher and Fred Rutledge officiating. (2pm) Mr. Shankle was a former high school teacher, a Wildlife officer with the N.C. Wildlife Commission and a former deputy with the Randolph County Sheriff's Department. Surviving: wife, Linda M. TRINITY - Floyd Ray Bundy, 92, departed this life on Feb. 19 at High Point Regional Hospital. He was born May 15, 1912, in Guilford County, s/o Joe and Elsie Welborn Bundy. On July 21, 1935, he married Mary Eleanor Lohr, who preceded him in death Feb. 7, 2005. He also was preceded in death by two brothers, Albert and Leslie Bundy, and six sisters, Annie Craven, Lounia Craven, Bertie Lydia, Lovier Horney, Elsie Bundy and Bessie Greene.
