Jerome Bonaparte Spain House

This two-story, frame house with a one-story kitchen ell at the back was the home of  Jerome Bonaparte Spain (1811-1872), son of Frederick Augustus Spain and Sarah Hopkins Spain, and his wife, Anna Lupton (1810-1882), daughter of Josiah Lupton and Mary Polly Goodwin.  This was the first house to occupy this site which was placed on the back lot with the fruit trees to the north and the hog pen to the east.  The second house built here for Edgar W. Spain (1875-1944) was placed in front of Jerome’s house.  The third house built for Charles Alfred Spain, son of Charlie Roberson Spain and Annie Emory Spain, was placed at the front of the lot closer to Hwy 304.   Jerome and Annis are buried in the Stilly's Cemetery, just southeast of the land he owned.
