Frederick Agustus Spain House

This two-story, frame house with its gable front orientation and side hall plan was constructed about 1900 for Frederick Agustus Spain (1895-1985), son of Frederick Agustus Spain and Sarah “Sally” Hopkins Spain, and his wife, Lona Goodwin (1896-1982), daughter of Pelege Goodwin and Flora Sawyer.  Originally on this site stood a small, one-story house in which Fred Spain’s mother, Sally Spain, lived.  A store also stood in the yard.  This house still stands today and is located in Hobucken, on the north side of the intersection of Hwy 304 and Lover’s Lane.  Picture taken in 1999.
