To all whom it may Concern

   Know ye, That Bernard Carrowan a Private of Lt. Dwight M. Kennedy's Company, ("B"), First Regiment of North Carolina Volunteers, who was enrolled on the Seventh day of May one thousand eight hundred and Sixty two to serve Three years or during the war, is hereby Discharged from the service of the United States this 27th day of June, 1865, at New Berne, North Carolina by reason of Being Mustered out in accordance with SO#88 HdQr Dept of NC.
     Said Bernard Carrowan was born in Hyde County in the State of North Carolina, is Twenty-Eight years of age, Five feet Nine & half inches high, Dark complexion, Blue eyes, Brown hair, and by occupation, when enrolled, a Farmer.
     Given at New Berne, N.C. this twenty-seventh day of June 1865.
