Revisiting the old Riggs-McCotter Cemetery
[From the Private Collection of William Odell Spain held by Jan Orndorff]

This article, written by William Odell Spain, appeared in The Pamlico News on Wednesday, July 15, 1998; pgs. 16-17 along with the photographs and map.  The news article was too large to scan in its entirety so it had to be scanned in two pieces.  Read the top image first and then the second image.  You can view the Riggs-McCotter Cemetery here.

Jim Riggs house

House formerly belonging to Jesse Riggs (1829-1914)

The Riggs House is a one-story high and T-shaped plan with a pyramidal form used to unify two gable-roofed ells of differing heights.  A one-story porch wraps around the structure.  The house was originally constructed by John Riggs and later occupied by Jesse Riggs (1829-1914) and by Adrian Eastwood.
