.Pamlico-NC-GenWeb Mailing List

As many of you are aware, John McGowan and Kay Midgett Sheppard were asked to take over the Pamlico Co., NCGenWeb site in March 2007 and it was necessary to start from scratch and rebuild the site completely from the bottom up.  Unfortunately, the person who had previously been host of this site also controlled the mailing list and we were not allowed to use the list to communicate with fellow researchers.  Rootsweb finally granted us a new list which will be * open to everyone * who is interested in the genealogy and history of our area. This list has been created for your use in researching your ancestors and for us to share our research and to keep everyone up to date as to the contents of the Pamlico Co., NCGenWeb Pages.

This list offers two versions: Mail mode and Digest mode. Mail mode sends you a copy of each individual message as it is posted to the list. Digest mode bundles up the list messages sent over about 18 hours and sends them to you as a single message.  If you don't want to clutter up your computer with single messages, this mode is for you.

Clicking on one of the shortcut links below should work, but if your browser doesn't understand them, try these manual instructions: to join PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB-L, send mail to PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB-L-request@rootsweb.com with the single word subscribe in the message subject line and also in the text area and nothing else.  To join PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB-D, do the same thing with PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB-D-request@rootsweb.com.

• Unsubscribing. To leave PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB-D, do the same thing with PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB-D-request@rootsweb.com.

• Archives. You can search the archives for a specific message or browse them, going from one message to another. Some list archives are not available; if there is a link here to an archive but the link doesn't work, it probably just means that no messages have been posted to that list yet.

• Sending a Message. Once you are subscribed, to send a message to the List, email it to: PAMLICO-NC-GENWEB@rootsweb.com.  Please put the subject of your message in the subject line to let others know what your message is pertaining to.
