They had no children. Their home and farm was left the her nephew, Roy Blackwood. The home was on Garrett Road, Durham, NC. They had a telephone in the home that was connected to other family members and it was the crank telephone. Each family member knew their number of rings and would count the rings each time before answering the phone. If it was a continues ring, all family members got on the party line to find out what was wrong. The phone was maintained by the family members. If a tree limb fell across the line, then it was a family member who got it off or if the line broke then a family member repaired it.
Per message below and from Tim Elliott 12/20/2004.
Uncle Hoot and Aunt Teck took in Melvin Blackwood when his Mother (Roy's older
sister) died. After Melvin grew up and married and Aunt Teck needed help after Uncle Hoot died. Aunt Teck asked Rory to move in and of course he stayed there until his death. His second wife, Cathy, still lives there to this day (12/20/04). Rory married her when he was 83. Rory didn't marry the first time until he was age 60. Hr married Flonnie Pickett. Pickett was her married name I think from her first marriage.
