Re the list of interesting people that Lefler inc. in his Orange Co. book inc. Dr. Braxton Bynum Lloyd aka "Brack "

I remember him even though I was only about nine the only time I ever saw him. He was a local well loved country doctor, esp. by those in Carrboro.  I recall being surprised that a doctor had a very visible gold tooth!
I used to hear my grandfather, Bruce Strowd, tell this one on Brack... Old Dr. Brack Lloyd, actually a resident of nearby Carrboro, was none the less considered a favorite Chapel Hill "char-AC-tor".  Many stories abound regarding Brack, whom I barely remember.  Bruce's favorite was one regarding a rural baby delivery.  Seems that on a cold winter night a father-to-be had rushed into town to find Brack, who was sound asleep in his warm bed.  The two fellows rushed back out into the country side.  Brack took one look at the mother to be and declared that she wasn't ready, and exclaimed, "Ey God sister, move over!", after which Brack crawled into her bed and finished his night's sleep.
Jim Richmond tells yet another story regarding Brack.  It seems that a young boy from a rather affluent family was so picky about what he ate and didn't eat that his mother was very concerned.  She contacted Dr. Lloyd, a man known for good common sense.  The good doctor suggested that she lend him her son for week and he would return the young man "cured".  His solution worked ...Brack left the boy with a local family, one with too little money and too many children.  The kids in that household practically fought over the sparse amount of food at the family table.  Brack's solution worked!
