Uncertified copies of death certificates can be ordered from the Onslow County of Register Deeds (see link in right sidebar) for $3 by mail.

• Onslow County Register of Deeds – offers a free search of deaths recorded in the county from 1982-2008
• NC Death Certificates – 1906-1930 – from FamilySearch; includes microfilm images of death certificates
• North Carolina Deaths and Burials, 1898-1994 – from FamilySearch
• Death Records: 1912-1933 – microfilm available through the Family History Library.  You will need to order through your nearest Family History Center.
• Social Security Death Index (learn more) – freely available from

Obituaries

• Onslow County Deaths – a list of newspaper notices/obits for people from Onslow County.  This database is a work in progress and currently includes notices from the early to mid 1800s.
