To all to whom these presenses shall come one EDWARD WARD and ELIZABETH the wife of Edward of this precinct of Carteret in the County of Bath & province of North Carolina.  Send Greetings Know Ye that we the said EDWARD WARD and ELIZABETH his wife for & in consideration of the sum of one hundred and fifty pounds Curtn. money of North Carolina in hands to us well & truly paid by WILLIAM CONGLETON, Beaufort Locet? in the County of Bath & Provence of North Carolina. The recept where of an do hereby acknowledge and ourselves there with fully contented, satisfied and paid. Have given granted, bargained, sale, aliend, unfroffed?? conveyed, confirmed, assignes, transfers & set over and futher presents do fully freely & absolutely gives grants bargain, sell, alien, confess evry confirm ____? & ___? unto the said WILLIAM CONGLETON his heirs and assigns forever all that tract of land situated & lying along on Pamlico River in the Pricenct of Beaufort in the County of Bath & Province of North Carolina containing by estamation five hundred seventy acres by the same more or less being a tract of land by us lately patenited & purchased which land was formerly surveyed by JOHN ALDRIDGE deceased but patented and purchased by EDWARD WARD & ELIZABETH his wife sureviving heir of the said JOHN ALDRIDGE deceased. Begining at a hickory that parts this land & the pland called PETER MIRSENS?? so running back into the pocosen to an oak N 30 E 320 poles thence back to a Phinquasuin? N 60 W 260 poles thence to an oak that parts this land from that which was formerly called JAMES HOGGS So30Wt to the river side 320 poles thence down Pamptico River to the first Station.

To have & to hold the said tract or parcel of Land quantitie 520 acres be the same more or less unto him the said WILLIAM CONGLETON his heirs an assigns forever to his & their only proper use and behoof forever and we the said EDWARD WARD & ELIZA his wife for us our heirs Exrs. Admrs. do Covenant promise & grant to Hrith?? the said William Congleton his heirs and assigns.  Shall & lawfully may from time to time & at all times forever here after peaceabley & quietly have hold use occupy possess & enjoy the abarganed puriched, with the appurtonances fru___? and Dor___? freely & clearly granted, bargains, sales, leases, mortagages, wills, entails, jointures, dowers, judgements, executions, incumbrances & ex____? whatsoever the fee rent of six pences annually due for every hundred acres, only and always excepted.  In Witness whereof we have hereunto set our hands and fixed our seals this 22nd day of September & in the fifth year of the reign of our Sovirign Lord George the Seven____? King of Great Briten Omo Domo 1731.
