I Tabitha Sledge of the county of Warren and state of
North Carolina being of sound mind and memory for which I thank God
amen, Do think it proper to make this my last will and testament-
Firstly I wish all of my just debts paid Secondly I lend to my son
Hubbard A. Sledge negro woman Lila and Haywood during his lifetime and
at his death to be equally divided among his children-
Thirdly I lend to my son W. P. Sledge negro woman Ann during his
lifetime and at his death to be equally divided among his children
Fourthly I lend to my son Alfred A. Sledge negro woman Mariah during his
lifetime and at hia death to be equally divided among his children
Fifthly I appoint Thomas C. Harris and William P. Sledge Trustees for my
daughter Elizabeth Johnston I leave to them negroes Charity and Ransom
for her benefit during her lifetime and at her death to be equally
divided among
her children-
Sixtly I lend to my daughter Mary T. Harris negro woman Margaret during
her lifetime and at her death to be equally divided among her children.
I give to Thomas C. Harris negro Turner
Eightly I give to my son Alfred A. Sledge the bond which I hold against
him- Ninthly after all of my debts have been settled and then should
there be any funds on hand I wish to be divided among my four children-
Viz Herbert A.
Sledge, William P. Sledge, Mary T. Harris- what money that will be going
to Elizabeth Johnston to be placed in the hands of Thomas C. Harris and
William P. Sledge Trustees
Lastly I appoint Thomas C. Harris and my son Herbert A. Sledge Executors
to this my last will and testament.
This the first day of July Annis Domino Eighteen Hundred and Fifty Two
signed and sealed the day and date above mentioned I hereby set my hand
and seal

This will was duly proved in open court by the oaths of Mark P. Perry
and George Harris the subscribing witnesses, witnesses thereto and on
motion was ordered to be recorded whereupon Thomas C. Harris and Herbert
A. Sledge the executors named in said will came into open court and
qualified as such in due form of law.
