Know all men by these presents that I, Thomas H. Christmas, of the
County of Warren and state of North Carolina for and in
consideration of the sum of fifteen hundred dollars, to me in hand
paid by William Green of said County have bargained, sold and
delivered and by these presents do bargain, sell and deliver to said
William Green a Negro woman named Bloe and her four children by the
names of Moses, Rhody, Better and Susan, which Negroes are at
present in the possession of William Campbell of Warrenton and I
covenant to give the said Green possession of said Negroes to have
to hold all and singular the said Negroes and their increases to
said Green, his heirs, executors, administrators and assigns forever
and for the consideration upon said I bind myself, my heirs and
assigns to give William Green full possession of all said Negroes on
the first day of next January and it is expressly understood the
title is said Green's from this time but that the Negroes are at my
risk until delivered and I the said Thomas H. Christmas for myself,
my heirs, executors and administrators and all and singular the said
Negroes unto the said William Green, his heirs, executors,
administrators and assigns against the said Thomas H. Christmas and
my executors, administrators and assigns and against all and every
other person or persons whomsoever shall and will warrant and
forever defend by these presents. In witness whereof I have hereunto
set my hand and seal this 4th day of December 1817.

The execution of this deed of trust by Thomas H. Christmas to
William Green was proved in open court by the oath of Edward
Pettillo and ordered to be registered.
