Joseph John Harris and Wife

Benjamin R. Harris - 1869

 

This indenture made the 15th day of June 1869 between Joseph J. Harris, Jr. and his wife Mary Ann Harris of the one part and Benjamin R. Harris all of the County of Warren and State of North Carolina the other part witnesseth: That for and consideration of the sum of one hundred and seventy two dollars to them hand paid by the said B. R. Harris, the receipt whereof hereby acknowledged, have given, granted, bargained conveyed and confirmed, said amount by the present to doth freely faithfully and absolutely, give, grant, bargain and sell conveyed and confirmed unto the said B. R. Harris, his heirs, executors, administrators and assign forever, one tract of land known as part of the tract of John Neal tract, containing eight acres more or less and adjoining the lands of Arthur Davis's heirs, John Verser, deceased and others, to have and hold said tract of land and promises to his own benefit forever. And the said Joseph J. Harris and his wife Mary Ann, for themselves, their heirs and assigns doth covenant and agree with the said B. R. Harris, his heirs and that they shall hold the said land and promises to their own use and ______.

Be it remembered that on the 12th day of June, A. D. 1869 before me, William A. White, Probate Judge of said County personally appeared J. J. Harris, Jr. and Mary Ann Harris, his wife, the grantors named in the annexed deed of conveyance and acknowledged the due execution by them of the said deed. And stated that Mary Ann Harris, being my me privately examined separately and apart from her husband, touching her free consent. She on such examination declared that she had executed the same freely of her own will and accord and with out any force, freely or under the influence of her husband on the part of her said husband or any ___, still voluntarily asset thereto. Therefore, let the said deed be registered and this certificate be registered.
