William Howell sells to John Dickerson certain land on the south side of Sandy Creek. 1786

This Indenture made this the 13th day of March in the year of Our Lord One Thousand Seven Hundred and Eighty Six, between William Howell of the County of Warren and province of North Carolina of the one part and John Dickerson of the County of Granville & province aforesaid of the other part. W(here)forth that the said William Howell have sold granted & offered & confirmed for and in consideration of the sum of sixty six pounds thirteen & four pence to the said John Dickerson his heirs and assigns forever One certain tract or parcel of land lying and being in the said County of Warren on the south side of Sandy Creek & bound as follows. Beginning at a pine upon the north side of the road running from Granville Court House to Warren Court House thence down the said road a line of marked trees to the head of a small branch thence up the said branch as it meanders to the fork thence to the first station it being part of a tract of land grant by the Earle Granville’s agents to the said William Howell containing by estimation in the whole one hundred acres more or less with the reversion and reversions, remainder and remainders, rents benefits and services whatever of them the said William Howell to the only proper use and behoof 1 of him the said John Dickerson his heirs and assigns forever and then the said William Howell doth covenant and agree to warrant and defend the aforesaid bargained premises and way past thereof from the lawful claim of any person or persons to only proper use and behoof of him the said John Dickerson his heirs and assigns forever and to be at this day free and clear from all manner of encumbrances. In witness whereof I hereunto set my hand and seal the day and year above.

Warren County October Court 1786. Wm. Howell asks this deed to John Dickerson and on motion the same is ordered to be registered. Just. M. Duke Johnson. The aforegoing Deed was truly registered the 4th of August, 1787 – William Johnson
