John Christmas to James Ransom- 1778

This Indenture made this twentieth day of October one thousand seven hundred and seventy-seven between John Christmas of the County of Bute and providence of North Carolina of the one part and James Ransom of the other part, County and province aforesaid.  Witnesseth that the said John Christmas for and in consideration of the sum of two hundred pounds Virginia currency to him the said John Christmas in hand paid by the said James Ransom hath granted bargained and sold aliened enfeoffed conveyed and confirmed and by these presents both grant bargain and sell alien conveyed and confirmed unto the said James Ransom his heirs and assigns forever all that divided tract or parcel of land situate lying and being in the aforesaid county of Bute containing by estimation three hundred acres more or less.  Beginning and bounded as follows Viz. Beginning at the road at Captain Allan's line thence up the road to Colonel Hawkins' line thence along Hawkins line to the vacant land thence down the vacant land Captain Allan's corner thence along the said Allan's line to the beginning to have and to hold the said tract or parcel of land and premises with their and every of their appurtenances thereunto belonging unto the said James Ransom his heirs and assigns to the only proper use and behoove of the said James Ransom his heirs and assigns forever and the said John Christmas for himself is unto the said James Ransom parcel of land and all singular other the premises unto the said James Ransom his heirs and assigns forever against him the said John Christmas all and every other person or persons whatsoever.  In witness whereof the said John Christmas hath hereunto set and affixed his hand and seal the day and year above written.

     Bute County February Term 1778

John Christmas acknowledged this sees to James Ransom and the wife of the said John being first privately examined by William Person, Esquire relinquished her right of Dower in the said land and conveyed and on motion the same is ordered to be registered.

The foregoing deed from John Christmas to James Ransom having been acknowledged in Bute inferior court of please and quarter session and ordered to be registered this 19th of July 1778.
