RESEARCH NOTES:

 Land grant to John McKnight in 1729.  Later acquired by James Elletson from Marmaduke Jones.  Expanded to 5400 acres and passed to his children in 1783...."Janet, Roger and William Spendlove his reputed children by Price of Westmoreland, Jamaica."  Eventually went to Janet's son, Gooden Elletson Bowen who lived there from the early 1800's to 1840's.
Gooden married Maria Skipper, daughter of Betsey and Peter Skipper who lived on French's Creek in Bladen County.  Plantation sold in 1800's.
Present owner unknown.
