SID and CORDELIA DAVIS to MEONA DAVIS, May 1937

This DEED made and entered into this day by and between Sid Davis and wife, Cordelia Davis, of the first, and Meona Davis, of the second part, all of the aforesaid county and state;
WITNESSETH; That for and in consideration of the sum of $1000.00 in hand paid by the party of the second part to the parties of the first part, the receipt of which is hereby acknowledged, the parties of the first part have given, granted, bargained, sold and conveyed and by these presents do give, grant, bargain, sell and convey unto the said Meona Davis, her heirs and assigns, a certain tract or parcel of land, it being Lot No. 2 in the survey of the land belonging to the estate of the late Hugh Bragg, deceased, lying and being situate in Brassfield Township, Granville County, N.C. on the waters of New Light Creek and bounded as follows:
Beginning at a sourwood in the line of Lot No. 2, Mitchell's corner; thence South 3 degs. West 162 poles to a stake and pointers; thence North 88 degs, West 54 poles, the corner of Lot No. 4; thence North 160 poles to a stake inside the Field corner of Lots Nos. 1 and 2; thenc south 88 ½ degs. east 60 poles to the beginning, containing 56 ½ acres, more or less, according to survey. For further description see deed book 30 at page 517 in the office of the Register of Deeds for Granville County.
TO HAVE AND TO HOLD the aforesaid tract or parcel of land together with all and singular the rights, privileges and appurtenances thereunto belonging to herself, the said Meona Davis, her heirs and assigns, in fee simple forever.
And the parties of the first part for themselves, their heirs and assigns, covenant and agree to and with the party of the second part, her heirs and assigns, that they are seized and possessed of said land in fee; that they have the lawful right to convey the same in fee simple, and that the same is free and clear of any and all encumbrances, and that they will forever warrant and defend the title to the same against the lawful claims of all persons whomsoever.
IN TESTIMONY WHEREOF, the said Sid Davis and wife, Cordelia Davis, have hereunto set their hands and affixed their seals, this the 5th day of May, 1937.

I, Geo. N. Stell, a duly qualified and acting Notary Public in and for the state and county aforesaid, hereby certify that Sid Davis and wife, Cordelia Davis, personally appeared before me this day and acknowledged their due execution of the foregoing and annexed instrument. And the said Cordelia Davis, being by me privately examined, separate and apart from her said husband, touching her voluntary execution of the same, doth state that she signed the same freely and voluntarily without fear or compulson of her said husband or of any other persons, and that she doth still voluntarily assent thereto.
