Location: Off Bend of the River Road, about six miles outside of Rocky Mount . Go NC Hwy. 97 west to Bend of the River Road, take that road and go about one mile. The cemetery is on the road that takes you to the Tar River Reservoir Dam. The road is well marked. It can now be seen from the reservoir road or from Bend of the river road. There is an old country store on that corner.

William D. Proctor was the oldest son of Isaac and Lou Bottoms Proctor.

Munroe Proctor was third son of Isaac Proctor and his second wife Milbrey Langley.

Eula Jane Proctor died in the first five years of her life.

Hansel Proctor was in the 2nd North Carolina Calvary during the Civil War. He bought and sold horses for the Confederate Calvary throughout the war.

Harrison Hansel Proctor, Jr. had three additional sons:

John Sidney Proctor [1873 – 1934], buried in Pineview Cemetery, Rocky Mount, Nash County, NC.; wife:  Mary Elizabeth Jones [1882 – 1957], also, buried in Pineview; children of John Sidney “Sid” Proctor  and Mary Elizabeth Jones were daughters, all bearing the middle name of “Lee”, Maddie, Eula (died about age 12, place of burial unknown, Alice, Etta and Annabelle and sons: William Hansel, Sidney Daniel (name for his mother’s father Jack Daniel Jones) also, Sidney has a twin brother who died in child birth; John Sidney Proctor was the  grandfather of: Earl P. Bell, Jr.; Mary Alice Bell, Bragg; William Hansel Bell [1942 – 2009] of Benica, CA; Mary Elizabeth “Beth” Jenkins Stillwell of Yorktown, VA; Barrett Proctor McCantless [deceased, lived in Hawaii] and Saunders Proctor Black of Stanley. Additional family information provided by Raymond Bell and Earl Bell:

John Lindsey Bell was the oldest son of James Henry Bell and Lucinda Evans Bell from Black Creek Township, Wilson County, North Carolina.  James Henry Bell was in Company A, 55th North Carolina Infantry, during the Civil War. He was wounded in the right arm at The Battle of Wilderness, May 4, 1864, moved to the Confederate Hospital in Lynchburg, Virginia, died there on the May 24, 1864, and is buried there in a mass grave, a common practice at the hospital in the final years of the war.

John Lindsey Bell’s mother Lucinda Evans Bell received a Widow’s Pension from the State of North Carolina in 1902, died in 1906, and is buried in the Black Creek Cemetery, Black Creek, North Carolina. John Lindsey Bell’s first wife was Della Josephine Aycock of Wilson County, NC. They were married January 27, 1881, in Wilson County, NC, and she died in 1887 in Wilson County. They had two surviving children, Albert Turner Bell and Joseph Adrian Bell of Wilson and Nash Counties, NC.

John Lindsey Bell’s second wife was Lula Rose Bell. They were married in Wilson County, NC, in 1889, and moved to Nash County in the mid 1890s where they lived for the remainder of their lives.

James Thomas Bell, the fifth son of John Lindsey (Sr.) and Lula Rose Bell, was born July 4, 1899, and died March 16, 1935.

Paul Vernon Bell was the second son of John Lindsey Bell and Lula Rose Bell. He was born September 10, 1893, in Wilson County, NC, married Rosa Perry Whitley, September 14, 1919, and died January 30, 1965 in Oak Level Township, Nash County, NC. His wife Rosa Perry Whitley Bell was born September 2, 1895, and died July 8, 1974, in Nash County, NC.
