William L. Shaw MAIDEN - William Lester Shaw, 85, of 2369 E. Maiden Road, died July 6, 2006, at Abernethy Laurels. Born Feb. 26, 1921, in Catawba County, he was a son of the late Carl Andrew Shaw and Ada Mae Bynum Shaw. A member of Lawings Chapel Baptist Church, he was employed by Duke Power as a construction superintendent and was a U.S. Army veteran. He was preceded in death by a son, Michael Shaw. Survivors include his wife, Elsie Baker Shaw of the home; two daughters, Ann and Howard Auton of Maiden and Valerie and Tommy Spearman of Lincolnton; a brother, Jerry A. Shaw of Lincolnton; two sisters, Cecile Shaw of California and Arlene Squires of Layfayette, La.; grandchildren, Dr. Staci Condry, Jeremy Faulkner, Crystal Shaw-Oberle, Jeffery Auton, Shanna Caviness, Tammi Shaw Taylor, Tessie McClauslin and Teresa Dawn Shaw; and great-grandchildren, Kylin and Caroline Condrey, Sage Auton, Cory, Aaron and Kaylon Taylor, Zarah Dembaugh, Hali, Mattison and Presson Norwood, and Brandie, Kyle and Sabrina McClausin. The funeral service will be conducted by the Revs. Foyd Bennett and Wayne Haynes at 3 p.m. Sunday, July 9, 2006, at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church. Burial will be in the church cemetery.
