Let it Snow...
(From a newspaper clipping found at the Catawba County Library, in Newton. Date unknown.)

Deepest Snow

MAIDEN - The deepest snow in Maiden recalled by the late R.P.P. Wilkinson,
former mayor, was 20 inches in March of 1920. Other snows he remembers
were 18 and 19 inches, and the drifted snow would be a five to six feet deep.
At times "foot travelers" would fall into drifts over their heads.
