SOME THUNKS

---------------------------------------------------

Why is it, our leading preachers and statesmen don't write good books like they used to do? Most that are written now are trashy novels.

It is not known what the political issues will be this year. It aught to be economy, retrenchment, and reform - more service and less graft.

The less one knows on a subject, the longer it takes him to tell it. It is so in writhing editorials, pleading law, and preaching a sermon.

The effort for the federal government to take away individual State's rights, means to States what the World (unreadable) to nations; and both is what the "Old Beast" wanted.

I believe a majority of the people in the county want the No. 10 highway to go through Newton. It will help more of them and advertise the county better.

If prohibition is a failure because some drink and break the law and therefore, it should be repealed, then all laws, human and Divine, are failures and should be repealed.

In speaking of tything some say when Christ came he fullfilled the law and we are no longer under the law, but under grace. If that means we need not obey the tithe law how about stealing, lying, killing and adultery? That kind of logic proves too much.

MUST KEEP HER HAIR
--------------------------------------------------

Mrs. Morris Wallach of New York City probably has the longest hair in the eastern states, and caring for it has become so burdensome to her that she wants to bob it.
But Mr. Wallach is proud of his wife's tresses and will not permit her to have them cut off.

( I wonder what Mr. Wallach would think about today's hairstyles! )

The cantata presented, Friday night by the second and third grade pupils was most excellant, and bespeaks a great deal of patience and energy for the teachers, Misses Hudson and Cain. It requires a lot of time and effort to train a crowd of little folks to perform with the precicion and ability these displayed.

We would be glad if everybody in Maiden would visit the school at the old S.F.I. building. Yes, we've been there, and going again soon.

We don't know, and perhaps will never know who removed the ignition coil from the fire truck and delayed the boys in getting to a fire yesterday, but whoever he is, he is a dangerous citizen to have in the community.
