Prima's Chow-Chow

Old, handed down recipe
Great with Pintos in the winter

2 large heads cabbage grated
1/2 gal small green tomatos
2 red sweet peppers
2 small hot peppers
4 large onions

Grate cabbage, use 1/2 c. salt and let stand while preparing the other ingredients.
Pour boiling water over tomatos, let stand 15 mins.
. Cut peppers in small pieces. Grate onion with its own juice.
After tomatos have set, then trim tomatoes, grate and drain, discarding tomato juice.

Combine
2/3 pt. vinegar
1 cup sugar
1/3 pt. water

Bring to boil, squeeze water from cabbage.
Put all ingredients in a large container, not made of tin.
Stir, bring barely to a boil, put in jars and seal.
