Apple Cider Pie
1/2 lb dried apples
3 cups of apple cider
1/2 cup sugar
1/2 teaspoon cinnamon
1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
butter
pie crust
Simmer the apples in the cider until they are cooked soft and plump.
Add the sugar, spices mixed together and cook about 10 min. longer.
The apples will have absorbed most of the juice.
Pour into a deep, unbaked pie shell, dot with pieces of butter and cover top with lattice stips of pastry.
Bake in hot oven 400 degrees for 25 to 30 mins.
Great with a scoop of ice cream after that hearty winter meal of pinto beans
and some of my grandma's tomato relish.
