Crafton, Frances C. NEWTON - Frances Cook Crafton, 84, of 102 Leonard Ave., Newton, passed away Monday, Feb. 27, 2006, at Abernethy Laurels in Newton. Born Dec. 15, 1921, in Catawba County, she was the daughter of the late Mack McKinsey Cook and Annie Bell Williams Cook. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Newton. In addition to her parents, her husband, Garland Eddie Crafton; five sisters; and two brothers preceded her in death. She is survived by three daughters, Pat Harris and husband, Bill, of Newton, Doris McCaslin of Maiden and Gail Matthews and husband, David, of Claremont; a brother, Harry Cook and wife, Peggy, of Newton; six grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Wednesday, March 1, 2006, at 11 a.m. at Burke Mortuary Chapel in Newton, with the Rev. David Gary officiating. Burial will follow in Lawings Chapel Baptist Church Cemetery. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at Burke Mortuary, prior to the service.
