Eugene Houston 

MAIDEN — Eugene “Gene” Robert Houston, 74, of 4863 Anderson Mountain Road, died Dec. 10, 2001. 
A funeral service was held Tuesday at 8 p.m. in Lawings Chapel Baptist Church. 
A graveside service was held at 11 a.m. today in the church cemetery. 
Born in Burke County, he worked as a carpenter for Jack Sipe Construction Company, was a U.S. Army WWII veteran, 
and a member of Centerview Baptist Church. 
Survivors include his wife, Norma H. Houston; three sons, Jimmy Houston of Icard, Eddy Houston, and Tracy Houston, 
both of Maiden; two daughters, Mary Houston, and Judy Newton, both of Maiden; three sisters, Kathryn Patton of Hickory, 
and Christine Hoyle, and Betty Kisler, both of Icard; four brothers, D.C. Houston, Lenoir Houston, and David Houston, all of Icard, 
and Vernon Houston of Hickory; 11 grandchildren; and six great-grandchildren. 
Memorials may be made to Lawings Chapel Baptist Church Music Fund, 3438 E. Maiden Rd., Maiden, N.C. 28650.
