ETHEL S. HELMS MAIDEN - Ethel Leullea Schronce Helms, 80, of Startown Road, Maiden, passed away Wednesday, Jan. 12, 2005, at Catawba Valley Medical Center in Hickory. Born Nov. 4, 1924, in Lincoln County, she was a daughter of the late Kelly Ottis and Sally Estelle Smith Schronce. She was a member of Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Hubert Helms. She is survived by two sons, Bobby R. Helms of Maiden and William Dean Helms of Vale; four daughters, Dorothy Mae Helms of Hickory, Mary Alice Clark of Vale, Bessie Helms Willis of Casar and Sarah Helms Tester of Maiden; three brothers, George Benfield of Dallas, N.C., and Ottis Schronce and Randy Schronce of Maiden; two sisters, Judy Cook of Vale and Lucille Beal of Maiden; 13 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren. The funeral service will be held Saturday, Jan. 15, 2005, at 2 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden, with the Revs. Dr. Foyd Bennett and R.M. Coulter officiating. The body will be placed in the church 30 minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends tonight, Friday, Jan. 14, 2005, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lawings Chapel Baptist Church in Maiden.
