C. Abernathy

MAIDEN — Catherine Ball Abernathy, 75, of 109 East Boyd St., died March 21, 2003. 
The funeral was at 3 p.m. Sunday at First Baptist Church in Maiden where she was a member, Sunday school teacher and 
past director of Women’s Missionary Union. 
Burial followed in Lawings Chapel Baptist Church cemetery.
She was an educator who served as a classroom teacher, speech therapist and curriculum supervisor and assistant 
superintendent of personnel of the Lincoln County School System.
Survivors include her husband, C. Blair Abernathy; a son, Douglas B. Abernathy of Maiden; a daughter, Beverly Abernathy Quarles of Raleigh; 
three grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
