BRIGHT, Mortimer - DIED - In Pensacola, Florida, on the 11th day of Nov'r 1846, at 7 1/2pm, Mortimer BRIGHT, Esq., aged 42 years and 5 months. Mr. B. was formerly of Lenoir County, N.C. ----Source: Semi-Weekly Raleigh Register, 26 February 1847. Contributed by Taneya Koonce.

COBB, John W. - DIED - At the residence of his brother-in-law, Mr. John H. Peebles, in Kinston, Lenoir county, on Sunday afternoon, the 30th ult., of Bilious Typhus fever, which lasted for 19 days, Mr. John W. Cobb, in the 23d year of his age, leaving behind him a devoted wife, an affectionate mother and sister, fond brothers and numerous beloved relatives and friends, to deplore his untimely death, and their irreperable loss. ----Source: Raleigh Register, 10 October 1849. COLEMAN, Blount - DIED - At his residence, in the County of Lenoir, on the 14th inst., Col. Blount Coleman, in the 55th year of his age. The loss of such a man as Col. C., would be felt as a calamity, by any community. Remarkable for integrity and independence of charater, e commanded the confidence and respect of all who knew him. As a business man, he was surpassed by few if any in the State. Having for many years filled the office of Clerk and Master in Equity, he had acquired a knowledge of the law and the various forms and processes used by the profession, that would have given him an enviable reputation as a lawyer. He served the County of Lenoir in the Legislature of the State - his strong practical intellect, together with his business habits, rendering him one of the most efficient members of that body. A good neighbor, a kind husband, an affectionate father - we can say with truth there are few nobler or better men, than was Blount Coleman. ----Source: Raleigh Register, 1 June 1847. HOLLAND, Sarah Olivia - DIED - In Kinston, Lenoir county, on the 25th ult. in the 8th year of her age, Sarah Olivia, daughter of Dr. Wm. Holland. ----Source: Raleigh Register, 17 December 1841. Contributed by Taneya Koonce.

HOWARD, S. - DIED - At his residence in Lenoir County, on the 25th ult., Mr. S. Howard, Esq., in the 37th year of his age. In the death of the deceased, his family have been bereft of an affectionate husband and father, with his relatives and neighbors, they have sustained a loss much to be regretted. He was perseving and prompt in business, and much loved and respected, and his situation in life promised much future usefulness. ----Source: Raleigh Register, 9 August 1851. KOONCE, Carrie Heritage - The funeral of Mrs. Carrie Heritage Koonce, age 68, was held here at 11am today. She was a member of a prominent family of this section. She was a daughter of the late Dr. Heritage Blount and wife. She is survived by two daughters, Mrs. John W. Miller of Savannah, Ga., and Miss Lucile Koonce, of Kinston, and two sons, M.B. Koonce, of Kinston, and John Koonce, of New Bern. Several brothers and sisters reside in this Sate, Georgia, and Florida. Rev. Harrell J. Lewis, rector of St. Mary's Episcopal Church, officiated at the funeral. METTS, Craven - DIED - In Lenoir County, Craven Metts, Esq., after an illness of sixteen days of typhoid fever, in the 36th year of his age. The demise of this excellent man has created a void in his family, and the circl of his acquaintance, that cannot be easily filled. ----Source: Raleigh Register, 23 November 1839. PARHAM, W.A. - DIED - This afternoon Mr. J.H. Parham, of this city, received the sad intelligence that at about 1pm, his father, Mr. W.A. Parham, dropped dead at his home near Oxford. Mr. W.A. Parham was 65 years of age and was apparently in the best of health. Mr. J.H. VANN, Blanney - DIED - In Madison County, Florida, on the 22nd instant, Mrs. Blanny Vann, consort of A. Vann, Esq., in the 25t year of her age. The subject of this notice removed from Lenoir County, N.C., to Florida, in 1841. In the fall of 1837, she embraced Religion and joined the Methodist Church, and had continued a consistent member to the time of her decease, as her conduct during her last illness would most amply testify. Her last sickness was long and most painful, which she bore without a murmur, and with Christian fortitude. ----Source: Raleigh Register, 16 March 1847. Contributed by Taneya Koonce.

WASHINGTON, James Augustus - DIED - At his residence in the City of New York, on the 30th ultimo, Dr. James Augustus Washington, in the 45th year of his age. Dr. Washington was the son of the late John Washington, of New Bern, and a native of Kinston, Lenoir County, N.C. His widowed mother is now a resident of this City.
