Proven-May Term 1818

In the name of God Amen.

I Zadock Askew of the county of Jones and State of North Carolina being weak and sick in body but of sound mind and memory and desirous of ——– the future management of my affairs do make this my last will and testament.

First. I recommend my soul to the protection of that supreme being who give it and my body to be decently buried

Item. I give unto my beloved wife Nancy the house and lot where on I now live together with all my household and kitchen furniture of any description,bed and bedding,——— and during her natural life.

Item. I also give my wife two cows and yearlings and my stock of provisions that is now laid in for the support of my family.

Item.My will and desire is that my children should be educated out of the rents of my lots I bought of ——— in Trenton and the hire of my negro woman ——–

Item. I give unto my daughter Elizabeth Askew two hundred dollars to be paid to her out of my property when she comes of age or marriage.

Item. My will and desire is that the balance of my property be equally divided between my two sons Benjamin and John Askew when they come of age.

Item. Lastly I nominate and appoint ———– Hathaway my executor to this my last will and testament revoking all others here to fore made in witness where of I the said Zadock Askew have hereunto set my hand and seal this 9 th day of Jan 1818
