  • Superior Court-Sept. 1808—-James RHODES, Juror
  • Nov. Term 1808—-Jacob RHODES, juror
  • May 1809-James Rhodes HAZZARD and Thomas HAZZARD, aged 6 years, bound to Anthony HATCH, 21 Nov. 1808
  • May 1811-William RHODES, be appointed overseer of the roads in the room of Jonas JONES, resignes.
  • Aug. 1813-ordered that Joseph KINSEY, Jr., Sam’l WESTBROOK, William RHODES etc., be privates in Capt. COXES? Company.
  • May 1814-William SIKES age 16, bound to William RHODES
  • Feb. 1815-William RHODES, juror
  • William RHODES ordered that Andrews COX be cited to appear at next term & show the court why his hands now are permitted to work on the roads leading by his house over at Tuckahoe, be not taken from said road to be compelled to work under overseer William RHODES.

GUARDIAN BONDS-Jones Co.,N.C.-CR.57.510.11

Know all men by these presents that we Jonas JONES, Eml. JARMAN, & John JONES, all of Jones Co., N.C. are held firmly bound unto His Excellency John OWEN?

Esquire, Capt. Generla, Governor & Commander in Chief in and over the State Aforesaid in the sum of 500 dollars currency.to be paid to the said Governor, his successors in Office,or Assigns in Trust for the benefit of the child I hereafter named, committed to the tuition of the said Jonas JONES to the which payment well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves and each of us , each and every of our Heirs, Executors and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed, with our seals, the 13th day of December 1830.

The condition of the above Obligation is such that whereas the above bounden Jonas JONES is constituted and appointed Guardian to Jacob RHODES, minor or orphan. Now if the said Jonas JONES shall faithfully execute said Guardianship by securing and improving the Estates of the said Jacob RHODES that shall come into his possession for the benefit of the said Jacob RHODES thereto required, and then render a true and plain account of his said Guardianship onoath before the Justices oforesaid Court, and deliver up, pay to, or possess the said Jacob RHODES of all such Estate as he ought to be possessed of or to such other persons as shall be lawfully empowered or authorized to receive the same, and the profits arising therefrom, then this obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.  — Signed, sealed and Delivered in presence of H.BRYAN Jonas JONES, seal, John JONES, seal ——- BEST, seal

Jones Co, Court, December Term, A.D. 1830. I hereby certify that the following Justices were present in Court, and granted the foregoing Guardianship, Viz: Nathan FOSCUE, Roscoe BARRUS, and Christopher A. HATCH. — H. BRYAN, clerk

GUARDIANSHIP BOND-Jones Co.,N.C.–Rhodes Family

Know all men by these presents that we Jonas JONES, Sr., John JONES & Joseph KINSEY all of Jones Co., N.C. are held and firmly bound unto His Excellency John AURN? Esquire, Captain General Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the State aforesaid int he sum of 2000 dollars currency, to be paid to the said Governor, his sucdcessors in office, or assigns, in trust for the benefit of the child —–, hereafter named committed to the tuition of the said Jonas JONES. To the which payment, well and truly to be mad, we bind ourselves and each of us, each and every of our heirs, executors and administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. —– Sealed with our seals, and dated 14th day of December 1829.

The Condition of the above obligation is such, that whereas the above bounden Jonas JONES is constituted and appointed Guardian to Benjamin RHODES minor or orphan. Now if the said Jonas JONES—–shall faithfully execute said Guardianship by securing and improving the estates of the said Benjamin RHODES that shall come into his possession for the benefit of the said Benjamin RHODES until he shall arrive at full age, or he sooner thereto required, and then render a true and plain account of his said guardianship on oath before the Justices of our said Court, and deliver up, pay to, or posess the said Benjamin RHODES of all such estate or estates as he ought to be possessed of, or to such other persons as shall be lawfully empowered or authorized to receive the same, and the profits arising therefrom, then this obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue. —–  Signed sealed and delivered – H.BRYAN Joseph JONES, seal — Joseph KINSEY, seal John JONES, seal Jones County Court, Term..A.D. 1829

Court Term Feb. 1817

  • Ordered that a piece of new road turned by James RHODES, Sr., be recorded by the overseer and company of said district.

Court Term Dec. 13, 1825

  • Ordered that —– JAMES, Henry RHODES, Owin B. COX, & Lewis KINSEY be patrols in district #4 for one year.

Court Term Dec. 1829

  • Ordered Jonas JONES be guardian to Benjamin RHODES (minor) he entering into bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with John JONES & Joseph KINSEY surities.
  • Ordered that Emanuel JARMAN be administor of all the goods & chattels of James RHODES, dec. he entering into bond in the sum of four thousand dollars with Joseph KINSEY & John JONES surities.

Court Term March 1831

  • Henry RHODES, James J. RHODES, Benjamin RHODES, Delia RHODES, & Jacob RHODES to the court. Petition for partition of land.  Report returned and confirmed and ordered to be registered.

Court Term December 1831

  • Ordered that Owin B. COX have the administration on the estate of Henry RHODES, dec., he entering into bond in the sum of two thousand dollars with William BROWN and Jonas WILLIAMS surities.
  • Ordered that Emanual JARMAN adm. of James RHODES, dec. has permission to sale the negroes CATE & FRANK of the estate of his intestate for the purpose of paying debt. Sale to be at six months ordered.

COX, Isaac BROWN, & William HUGGINS all of Jones Co., N.C. are held and firmly bound unto his Excellency Munford STOKES Esquire, Captain General, Governor and Commander in Chief in and over the State aforesaid in the sum of 1000 dollars currency, to be paid to the said Governor, his successors in Office, or assigns in Trust, for the benefit of the children hereafter named, committed to the tuition of said Owen B. COX. To th which payment, well and truly to be made, we bind ourselves and each of us, each and every of our Heirs, Executors, and Administrators, jointly and severally, firmly by these presents. Sealed with our Seals, and dated 12th day of March 1832.

The condition of the above Obligation is such, that whereas the above bounden Owin B. COX is constituted and appointed Guardian to Mary RHODES and Jackson RHODES minor or orphans. Now if the said Owen B. COX shall faithfully execute said Guardianship by securing and improving the Estates of the said Mary and Jackson RHODES that shall come into his possession for the benefit of the said Mary & Jackson RHODES of all such Estate or Estates as he ought to be possessed of, or to such other persons as shall be lawfully empowered or authorized to recieve the same, adn the profits arising therefrom, then this obligation to be void; otherwise to remain in full force and virtue.   —- Signed, sealed & delivered  — in the presence of H.
