In the name of God Amen.  I Mary Ward of Hyde County being of sound and perfect mind and memory blessed be God, do this November 22d day in the year of our Lord 1837 make and publish this my last will and testament in manner following, that is to say first I give and bequeath unto beloved brother Jordan Ward all my part of the land at head of Allegator River and Kilcany and Leah Ward in Tyrel County so called.

And I hereby make and ordain my worthy friend Nathan Vollaway executor of this my last will and testament set my hand & seal the day and year above written.  Signed Sealed & published and declared by the said Mary Ward the testator as her last will and testament in the presence of us, who were present at the time of signing and sealing thereof.

State of North Carolina        Court of Pleas and Quarter Sessions
       Hyde County                  February Term 1838
    Then was this last will & testament of Mary Ward exhibited in court by Nathan Vollaway the executor therein appointed for probate, and was duly proven according to law by the oath of Nathan Vollaway and Jackson Cutrill the subscribing witnesses thereto, and the said Nathan Volaway came into court and qualified as executor according to law.  Ordered to be registered.
