Return to Hyde County

Little John P. Midyett- 1841
NC Archives, Original estates records 1745-1904; CR.053.508.51

May Term 1847 [should be 1841] - Petition of Louisa H. Midyett for her one years support.  She states that Littlejohn P. Midyett died intestate about March last and the family consisted of no children.  [I actually have 2 children attributed to Louisa & Little John:  Benjamin M. Midyett (1834-1886) and Little John P. Midyett, Jr. (1838-1840).  There were at least 5  Little John Midyett's in Hyde County and all of them, with the exception of one, died in the 1840's.  I don't understand why Louisa would say there were no children in the family in 1841 because court records show Banister Midyett taking guardianship of Benjamin Midyett in 1842.  According to In Memory Of...An Index to Hyde County Cemeteries, Little John Pugh Midyett, Sr. was born May 8, 1807 and died April 9, 1842 but Louisa says that her husband died in about March 1841 and this estate record certainly indicates 1841.]

June 22, 1841 - Inventory & account of sales taken by Benjamin Midyett, adm'r.  Also commissioners set off to Louisa H. Midyett her 1 years provision.

Aug. Term 1841 - Report of inventory & sales & one year's provision returned, confirmed and ordered recorded.
